PPJ 024: Amanda Petrik – Private Practice Journey Discoveries this Month!

On this episode of the Private Practice Journeys podcast, Amanda Petrik, a licensed clinical professional counselor, discusses what new and exciting things have happened in her practice since last month.  Give it a listen and find out why you’ll want to follow these therapists on their journeys into private practice! https://youtu.be/DjGhLB5GsJg

Learning Along the Journey

* Learning from experience – Amanda clarified her niche and updated her website to reflect this change. As a result, she has found that more of her ideal clients have contacted her to schedule appointments.   Amanda has gotten off from some insurance panels and is doing some self-pay, which has worked out well so far.

* Learning how to adjust – Networking/connecting with people is very important to build your practice. Amanda sent handwritten notes to referral sources who had not referred clients to her in the past to thank them for the referral.  This has resulted in more referrals from the referral sources.  Also, Amanda has started a local therapist Facebook group, which has helped build connections among therapists.

* Learning about social media marketing – Amanda primarily uses Facebook to market her services during slow times/when she does not have as many clients scheduled for appointments in a week as she would like to. She has used Facebook Ads, which cost around $25.00 or $30.00, and this has resulted in new clients wanting to schedule appointments with her.  She considers this to be a new marketing strategy for therapists.
