Fees & Payment

Clients who make a financial commitment to participate in counseling or obtain a psychological evaluation are investing in themselves in the long run.  Mental wellness is the key to a healthy and happy life.

Fees

Dr. Quarto’s fees are competitive and based on his education level, experience and expertise (call around and see what other Ph.D.-level therapists are charging for their services):

Payment

  • Insurance:  If you have a health insurance plan, then your insurance company may cover all or part of the costs of a psychological evaluation or counseling sessions.  Dr. Quarto will be happy to contact your insurance company to verify your benefits and inform you of these benefits prior to scheduling your first appointment.  Also, Dr. Quarto will submit insurance claims on your behalf to obtain reimbursement for services rendered.
  • Payment (i.e., co-pay, co-insurance, self-pay) is due in full at the end of each counseling session or psychological evaluation appointment.
  • Health Savings Accounts/Flexible Spending Accounts (HSAs/FSAs): You may work for a company that contributes to a Health Savings Account.  These funds may be used to offset the costs of mental health services.  HSAs and FSAs allow clients to spend pre-tax income on medical expenses such as counseling and psychological evaluations.  You are encouraged to check with your human resources office to find out if these options are available to you.
    • Counseling and psychological testing services are usually tax deductible as a medical expense.
  • Self-pay:  In addition to cash and check, debit and credit cards are acceptable forms of payment (debit/credit card only for online appointments).

Insurance company affiliations

Dr. Quarto is a participating provider of the following insurance company:

  • Cigna

Dr. Quarto is not a participating provider of the following insurance companies (not an exhaustive list):

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield
  • United Healthcare
  • MultiPlan/PHCS
  • TRICARE
  • TennCare
  • Upper Peninsula Health Plan
  • Healthy Michigan Plan
  • Medicare/Medicaid
  • HMO plans

If Dr. Quarto is not a participating provider of your insurance company’s provider network then it is possible that his services will be covered as an out-of-network provider.  Here is some information to clarify what is meant by “out-of-network:”  click here.

Dr. Quarto would be happy to call your insurance company to verify out-of-network benefits (except for TennCare, UPHP or Medicaid/Medicare).  Better yet, sign up with Better to have them do this for you! https://getbetter.co/

Don’t forget about deductibles!

Keep this in mind:  You may have a deductible that you are required to pay/meet before your insurance company pays anything – regardless of whether you see an in-network or out-of-network provider.  If this is this case and you are required to pay the entire psychological testing fee, then Dr. Quarto can offer you a reduced fee for the evaluation if completed online (i.e., instead of coming to Dr. Quarto’s office you would meet with him online using a “Skype-like” video app.  Adult clients only).  You may have an HSA/FSA that you can use to pay your deductible (discussed above).
